The Black Wave.

The Black Wave.

The earth spawned a monster,
Shuddering,
Cracking,
Juddering,
Fracturing,
Arising from the dark abyssal depths,
A tsunami, the sea stallion of death,
Roaring,
Rushing,
Gouging,
Gushing,
A black wave about to crash.

Awesome in its primal anger,
Raging,
Ravening,
Smashing,
Crushing,
As the black wave struck,
Drowning thousands in its flood,
Erasing everything in its path,
The present, future and the past.

There used to be a town here,
The place where I was born,
Whose memory I can only mourn,
Farms and Factories,
Homes and happy families,
All gone in an instant,
Smashed into little pieces,
When the black wave came.

And then the black wave swept away,
Ebbing,
Abating,
Gloating,
Draining,
And in its wake left nothing,
But the dead and destruction,
Splinters that used to be homes,
Jealous mud and buried bones,
Entire towns just wiped away,
Whole families denied a grave,
And the endless after-shocks of loss,
That the living bear as their cross.
